Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 November 2026

This policy explains what data the Moneyfesting iPhone app and this website handle, why, and what you can do about it. If anything is unclear, write to contact@moneyfesting.app.

In short

  • You don't need an account. We never ask for your email or Apple ID to use the app.
  • Most of what you put into the app stays on your iPhone and never reaches us.
  • The app sends us usage analytics and crash reports, linked to random IDs rather than to your name. We don't use them for advertising and we never sell data.
  • Apple handles payments. We never see your card details or Apple ID.
  • If you email us, we use your message to answer you and improve the app.

Who we are

Moneyfesting is made by Daisoreanu Laurentiu, an independent developer based in Bucharest, Romania ("we", "us"). Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) we are the "controller" of the data described here: we decide how it is used and we are responsible for it. You can reach us at contact@moneyfesting.app.

What stays on your iPhone

The following is stored only on your device and we never receive it:

  • what you type into the app: your name, your goal, your hourly wage, your tasks, focus notes and your own quotes;
  • your favourite and hidden quotes, and any photo you pick as a background;
  • the apps and websites you choose to block. Apple's Screen Time system gives the app coded tokens instead of app names, and your Screen Time reports are shown by Apple on your device;
  • mood check-ins, which the app saves to and reads from Apple Health only with your permission;
  • reminders, which are scheduled on your iPhone as local notifications;
  • share images you choose to save to Photos (the app can add photos but can't see your library).

Deleting the app removes this data from your iPhone, except what you saved to Apple Health or Photos. The app also keeps one small note in your iPhone's keychain, which stays after you delete the app, so that an introductory offer is not shown twice; it contains no personal details. Backups of your iPhone follow Apple's terms.

What the app sends us

Usage analytics (PostHog)

To learn how people use the app and what to improve, the app sends usage events to our analytics provider, PostHog. PostHog's code in the app creates random IDs on your iPhone, one for the app and one for each session, and the events carry those IDs, never your name, email or Apple ID. We collect:

  • the screens you open and the buttons you tap, how long you spend on each setup screen, and your answers to the multiple-choice setup questions (for example the times of day you want to focus, your daily phone time, how often you want reminders, quote topics, theme and the habits you want to change). We don't send answers about anxiety, stress or neurodivergence, and we never send what you type: for your name and goal we only record whether you gave one;
  • your age group and gender, if you choose them during setup;
  • your currency and a wage range (not your exact wage);
  • focus sessions and minutes, streaks, badges, how many apps you block, and whether you allowed notifications and Screen Time;
  • purchases: the plan, price, currency, any trial or offer, and the reason you pick if you cancel;
  • how you use widgets, shortcuts, notifications and sharing;
  • when the app is installed, updated, opened and closed;
  • device and app details: device model, iOS version, app version, language and region settings, App Store country, time zone, screen size and connection type (Wi-Fi or mobile).

PostHog is set to discard your IP address, and we don't work out your location from it. We use details such as age group, gender and wage range only for statistics about groups of people, never to make decisions about you or to show you ads.

Why: our legitimate interest in understanding which features help people, finding what confuses them, and running the business. A "legitimate interest" (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) is a reasonable purpose that we may pursue as long as it doesn't override your privacy rights. Here the data is linked to a random ID rather than to your name and contains nothing you typed.

Where and how long: PostHog stores the data in its EU cloud in Frankfurt, Germany. PostHog Inc., a US company, may access it to run the service, under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (contract terms approved by the European Commission to protect data that leaves the EU). PostHog deletes events after 12 months. We delete the profile attached to a random ID (age group, gender, wage range and setup answers) once it has had no activity for 12 months.

Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)

When the app crashes, it sends a crash report to Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service, so we can find and fix the problem. A report holds the technical details of the crash, your device model, iOS and app version, free memory and disk space, the time, and random installation IDs created by Firebase. Firebase also notes when an app session starts, so we can see how often the app crashes. We don't add any of your app data to these reports.

Why: our legitimate interest in keeping the app working.

How long: Google starts deleting crash reports and the IDs attached to them after 90 days.

Emails you send us

The feedback form in the app opens your email app with a message to contact@moneyfesting.app. The email contains your email address and name as your email app sends them, your topic and message and, unless you switch it off, the app version and build, iOS version, device model, app language and your plan (free, trial or which subscription). We receive it in our mailbox at Google Workspace. The app remembers the reply address you typed, on your iPhone only.

Why: our legitimate interest in answering you and improving the app.

How long: we delete feedback emails 12 months after we receive them.

Purchases (Apple)

Apple sells Moneyfesting subscriptions and purchases through the App Store and processes your payment under Apple's privacy policy. We never receive your card details, name or Apple ID. Apple tells the app what you have bought, and the app keeps that status on your iPhone. The sales reports Apple gives us don't identify you.

This website

moneyfesting.app sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Our host, Google Firebase Hosting, receives your IP address and browser details when you load a page, to deliver it and protect the site from abuse; this is our legitimate interest. Google keeps these IP addresses for a few months.

Who else receives data

Only the service providers named above, which process data for us under data processing agreements: PostHog (analytics) and Google (crash reports, email and website hosting). We don't sell data, share it for advertising, or track you across other companies' apps and websites.

When you use Screen Time, Apple Health, Photos, iCloud or the App Store, Apple handles that data under its own privacy policy.

We may disclose data when the law requires it, for example to answer a court order. If Moneyfesting is ever transferred to a new owner, the data would pass to them under this policy, and we would tell you beforehand.

Data sent outside the EU

PostHog's safeguards are described above. Google may process data from all the Google services above in any of its data centres, including in the US. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and also uses the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for a copy of these safeguards.

Do you have to give us data?

No law or contract requires you to. Analytics and crash reports are sent automatically while you use the app, and there is no setting to switch them off, so the way to stop them is to delete the app. Everything else you share, such as setup answers and emails, is your choice.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of your data;
  • correct it;
  • delete it;
  • limit how we use it;
  • send it to you or another service in a machine-readable format.

Your right to object: you can object at any time to our use of your data based on our legitimate interests, including analytics and crash reports. We will then stop unless we have compelling reasons that override your interests.

To use any of these rights, write to contact@moneyfesting.app. It's free, and we answer within one month.

Because analytics and crash data are linked to random IDs, we usually can't find yours from your name or email. If we can't identify your data, we will tell you, and that data is deleted when its retention period ends.

Permissions for Screen Time, Apple Health, Photos and notifications can be changed at any time in your iPhone's Settings.

You can also complain to a data protection authority: in Romania, the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP), or the authority in the country where you live or work.

We don't make decisions about you based only on automated processing.

Children

Moneyfesting is for people aged 13 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 is using the app, contact us and we will delete what we can identify.

Security

Data travels between the app and our providers over encrypted connections. Our providers protect it with access controls and encryption, and only we can see the analytics and crash dashboards.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change matters to you, for example a new kind of data or a new provider, we will tell you in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect, unless a law requires it sooner.
